Hot Rackets Tennis League

This year we would like to try something slightly different whereby you can play as many games as you like and chose whoever you wish to play rather than just those people a few places above you. This may give us more opportunities to play as booking with opponents can become difficult as the summer progresses due to holidays.

Each match is the best of 3 sets. You gain a point each for turning up to play, plus a point per set, but if you win in two sets you do not play the third. Consequently, if you win you have 3 points and if you lose you either have 1 point for turning up or 2 as you also won one set.

In addition, I would like to suggest that the first time you play new opponents; you both gain 5 bonus points to encourage us to choose a variety of opponents. Therefore, I am suggesting that you can choose to play anyone on the competition as many times as you may wish - due to the difficulties of organising games and times on the courts. The third court will naturally make this easier but at present with the coaching programme evenings can become rather full.

There will be two prizes: one for those with the most points on the 31stOctober 2011, and a second prize for those who played the most games, so beginners could win prizes too!

The competitions offer the opportunity to play as many or as few games as you wish and do not require you to be an expert player, but they give you an opportunity to play different people at all levels, developing and enhancing your own skills in tennis through this experience ... as well as having good fun.

 

On the table there are several different competitions suggested and they will be set in motion from the 6th of June depending on the level of response, however should there be less than 5 in a category that competition will not be set up. Once set up instructions will be supplied with regard to sending in results and in turn as in previous years results will be emailed out on a regular basis.  If all members are happy to have there names published, we can summarise monthly results on the website
