Our Courts
All three of our courts have floodlights and the third court, established in 2011, stands in its own fenced area adjacent to the original two courts. Members are issued with a number for the combination padlocks. The same number gives access to all three courts and also the Clubhouse. It is important to remember to scramble the combinations after you have locked-up.
The floodlights can be used up to 10pm in the evening and are activated by tokens which can be bought from either Steeple Morden village garage shop, our club Secretary (Fiona), our welfare officer, Debbie Shepherd or from Avril (Chairman). Each token costs £1 and lasts for 30 minutes. The token meter is situated in the Clubhouse.
Extreme care needs to be exercised to ensure they are turned off at the meter in the Clubhouse one at a time and not all together via the Mains switch, otherwise – the lights will go out BUT the fuse blows. The correct procedure is posted in the Clubhouse next to the switches or you can Open/Download detailed instructions here.
Court Availability
The courts are available for use up to 10pm in the evening. However, they are sometimes pre-booked for league home matches, coaching sessions etc. so its always best to book the court(s) in advance to be sure they are available when you want them.
Courts must be booked online using the ClubSpark platform. This can be accessed here. They can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance, and all bookings are free of cost. Online booking is limited to those of 16 years and over so parents should book for players younger than 16. The courts can also be booked using an ap which can be downloaded onto your mobile phone: "ClubSpark Booker".

Ongoing bookings include the following:
Monday evening adult coaching from 7pm - 9pm
Wednesday evening Club night (all 3 courts) from 6.30-9.30pm
Saturday morning Social Tennis 10am - 12 noon.
Court Location
Our address is: Steeple Morden Tennis Club, Steeple Morden Recreation Ground, Hay Street, Steeple Morden, Royston, Herts. The nearest postcode is SG8 0PE.
Our Courts are located behind Steeple Morden Recreation Ground. From the A505 follow the sign for Steeple Morden (the junction is between Baldock and Royston). As you enter Steeple Morden continue down Station Road past the Church on your left and onto Hay Street. The Recreation Ground is located on your left shortly after passing the school.
Once you go down the recreation ground road (track) it will lead to the village hall and cricket clubhouse, keep going towards the car park (signed). If you park in front of the conifer trees, you will see a kissing gate which leads to the tennis courts on the left. Download Tennis Courts Location. Coming from Cambridge or Guilden Morden, you will enter the village on Hay Street and will see the recreation ground on the right – take the right turn down the track and follow the directions above to the courts.
